We are leading the way in water births in Ireland. Water births are becoming more common as the benefits of it in helping with pain releif are now evident. With over 950 water births to date, each of our units are equipped with facilities to accommodate the birth of your baby.

Warm water can be used to help relaxation and ease pain. Many women who come to the M.L.U use it for labour and 170 have given birth in water.

The security, warmth, privacy and quiet environment enables relaxation.

The floating sensation increases the feeling of control and reduces fear.
